The PTO Needs Volunteers!!Check out PTBoard for all volunteer sign-ups!
Be sure to read the Volunteer Guidelines prior to volunteering.First and foremost, thank you for your willingness to volunteer. Volunteers are invaluable and help the teachers and the staff provide the best experiences for all kids. The following are some general guidelines for all parent volunteers during this school year:
1. Please have all of your clearances on file at the office PRIOR to signing up for a volunteer slot. [Please scroll for instructions on how to obtain clearances]. There is no need to make a special trip to the office. Make a copy for your own records, and send the originals in an envelope addressed to the office in your child's communications folder. It will get there!
2. When you arrive for your volunteer assignment, you must bring your license to show the office staff.
3. When volunteering for school events, it is school policy that siblings/additional people are not permitted on the school grounds while you are volunteering.
4. While you are volunteering, you may see your child or children's teacher. Please refrain from discussing your child's school progress or experiences during this time. Teachers are more than happy to set up phone calls or make other arrangements for those conversations.
5. There are many 'glamorous' volunteer slots such as field trips, field day, and class parties. These spots are limited, but consider other options such as lunch or recess duties. These are also wonderful opportunities to help the staff, and maybe even match the faces to the names your children are mentioning.
6. When sign ups open up, please follow the directions within the sign up. For example, kindly refrain from choosing multiple slots the minute a sign up comes out. We ask this because some parents do not have access to email all of the time or need to adjust work schedules. By the time they are able to sign up, there are no slots left.
7. In the interest of fair play, consider refraining from signing up for more than one class party or field trip in the school year. These have become quite popular. There are more than 20 children in every class that would love to share those experiences with a parent. Please be considerate of those feelings.
8. Class party games are for fun---no NFL scouts or Harvard recruiters are on site, so encourage the kids to simply work together and enjoy.
9. Please refrain from posting pictures of children on social media. Remember not all parents are comfortable putting images of their children online---and we all know private groups aren't really private.
Thank you again for taking the time to volunteer at WTE--it's going to be a great year!
