WCASD Acceleration Program

The district offers students the opportunity to earn credit through summer courses. Learning will be a combination of in-person and online instruction according to the schedule for each course. Courses are created and taught by WCASD faculty, and the courses for this summer are:
- Geometry (1.0 Credit)
- Health Fitness 9 (1.0 Credit)
- Health 10 (.6 Credit)
Students will meet in-person at Fugett Middle School every Tuesday from 8:30-11:30 am.

We're excited that you are interested in registering for WCASD's Acceleration Program this summer! Registration will be processed through the Parent Portal and requires just a few simple steps:
- Login to Parent Portal
- Click on the "Forms" section on the left hand navigation
- Click "2024 Summer Accelerated Learning Registration"

After registering, families will see a fee in their student’s PaySchool account within one week. Registration is not complete until we receive payment for the summer school course. Please note that high school credit is not awarded to current 7th graders.
Please be aware that registration closes on Monday, June 3!
Program FAQs

When do classes begin?
All classes begin on Monday, June 24, 2024. The first in-person class is on Tuesday, June 25, at Fugett Middle School.

When do classes end?
Health 10 ends on Jul 27, 2024, and the other courses end on August 9.

What does a typical week look like?
Students will have the materials posted for that week no later than Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, students should expect to work for about 2 - 3 hours per day. On Tuesdays, the classes will meet in-person at Fugett Middle School. Class begins at 8:30 and ends at 11:30 a.m.

How are the virtual days organized?
Teachers will post their online materials on Monday morning, no later than 8:00 a.m. Each teacher will provide a recommended pacing guide for each class. Due dates for the online materials will be set by each teacher.

What if I need extra help?
Communication with your teacher is key! Teachers will post times that they are available for online zooms, but if you need additional help, please contact them via Schoology or email.

What is the attendance policy?
Students may not miss more than three (3) classes - either in-person or "virtual." Due to the accelerated pace of these courses, it is recommended that students attend all classes.

What happens if I miss a class?
Students are responsible for coordinating with their teacher any make up any work. If you have a planned absence, it is best to request the work in advance.

At the end of the summer, how does my schedule for next year get changed?
Once students have successfully completed the summer course, the building administrative team and counseling department will make the needed changes to the student's schedule. If there are any errors, changes can be made in the first week of school.

Is transportation provided?
No, transportation is not provided for students enrolled in the Summer Acceleration program.
